What is the observations tool?

The Procore Observations tool is used to report any new or increased hazards/risks. You can also link it to other items such as an Incident or Inspection.

1. Open the Procore Observations tool and select create.

  • Select the relevant type e.g. Environmental Hazard, Identified Hazard, Identified Hazardous Substance.
  • Leave the status as Initiated
  • Title: summarise the hazard in a few words
  • Priority: select an option if comfortable, otherwise leave blank
  • Assignee: Site Manager or Leading Hand
  • Distribution: Site Manager, Project Manager, Leading Hand, Yourself
  • Location: if known
  • Enter the relevant Contributing Condition and Behavior
  • Select the relevant Hazard type
  • Description: summary of the hazard
  • Attach any photos of the hazard
  • Select Create

Creating an Observation does not automatically send out a notification to the Assignee(s) or Distribution list

2. Once you have created all your Observations, open the Observations tool and click the Send Item button at the top of the screen - notifications for the newly created Observations will now be sent to the Assignee(s) and Distribution List

2. To link to other items, you can use the Create & Link button mentioned above if you need to set up the related item (e.g. if the RFI it is related to hasn’t yet been set up). Otherwise, click on the Related Items tab.

  • Click Edit and select the type, then search the specific item to add in the Description section.
  • Click +Add then click Save.
