Search Function
Being able to accurately search the project folder for a specific document that has been filed where no-one can remember is very useful, and can save a lot of time searching.
While you can do this in the desktop Egnyte, it is faster and more accurate to use the online version of Egnyte.
You can either bookmark Egnyte on your browser, or you can find the project folder in the desktop version – right click on the folder and select View in Cloud.
When you have the folder open in the online Egnyte, click in the search bar in the top right-hand corner and type the keyword you want to search, then hit Enter.
You can do this in any folder in Egnyte online – the search will only show matches from the folder you made the search from (including any subfolders – e.g my search here would search the 00 Tender folder and all the rest, but only for this project).
In the search results, you can click on the item to open it. You can also see the file path under the item name if you want to find it manually, or remember where it is saved.
The Content/ Description column is helpful to show if your keyword appears within the document, even if it isn’t in the name.
You can use the filter options at the top of the page to narrow down the search, or select an item to immediately download a copy or share the item.
