What is the drawings tool in Procore?

The Drawings tool on the Procore mobile app is used to view and markup drawings – you cannot upload new drawings through the mobile app. The upload of drawings to Procore should be done by the project manager or site manager.

Why should I view drawings through the app?

Viewing drawings on your phone is beneficial as it means you have direct access to the plans as you work on site. If the drawings are missing please contact your Site Manager or Project Manager.

1.Open the Procore mobile app and select the Drawings tool.

  • Note that this does not always automatically sync, so when you open the tool it is good practice to manually select the cloud download/sync button to ensure you are seeing the most up to date drawings.

2. Use the search function or scroll to find the relevant drawing and select the drawing to open it.

  • Pinch to zoom in and out of the drawing and scroll to move the view around.
  • The markup toolbar will automatically be displayed.

3. The tools are:

Select

  • You can select individual items with the hand, or click and select Multi or Lasso to select multiple items.

Pen

  • To draw or highlight with your mouse. Change the colour by clicking Pen, then the colour and size from the bottom of the list.

Cloud

  • To draw a cloud, box, or Ellipse. Choose the colour and fill same as above.

Arrow

  • Draw an arrow, line, or double arrow. Choose the colour and thickness same as above.

Text

  • To draw and fill a text box. You can choose if it has a fill and what colour the same as above

Distance

  • If you use this tool, you will need to calibrate first. A popup will show to prompt this.

  • Find a measurement on the drawing (e.g. a wall with its length marked) and draw a line along it and enter the measurement. Now you can use the measure tool by clicking the measure tool and drawing lines or boxes for what you want to measure.

  • You can also use the Freehand measure tool to draw other shapes, though this may not be as accurate.

Drawing

  • Select to link this drawing to another drawing. Select, then draw a circle and select the drawing to link. Now when you click on the circle you have just drawn you will be taken to the linked drawing.

Photos

  • May also show as Defects or Obs (observations). Select the relevant item and click. Draw the prompted shape, select the relevant defect, observation, or photo.

If you have noted a defect at a particular item on the drawing, Procore will automatically send a snapshot of the area selected to the Trade Partner assigned to the relevant defect.

Markups you make will only be visible to you until you click Select, select the items you want to make public, and click Publish. Once markups are Published other users will now be able to see them.

To delete a markup, click the markup and click Delete.

Select Link to link other items e.g. you can link a document from the Documents tool, a Correspondence, an RFI, Inspection etc. You can link the same markup to multiple items.

It is best to have all of the items you may want to link set up before linking them – you can create an RFI from the drawing link option but it will only be a draft, so it is better just to create the RFI normally and then link it.
